The Texas A&M Institute of Genomic Medicine offers a suite of services for research programs requiring mouse models. Researchers can choose any or all of our rederivation, transgenic, colony management, genotyping, and cryopreservation services for production of their experimental cohorts.

Support at every stage of a mouse-model program
Your mice exist at TIGM
We maintain a repository (frozen sperm) of nearly 300 mouse lines available to the research community.
Your mice exist outside of TIGM
TIGM can rederive them into our specific pathogen free (SPF) vivarium or, in some cases, we can import live mice directly from other SPF facilities.
Your mouse of interest does not exist
TIGM can genetically engineer it for you. By using pronuclear injections to introduce genome modifying reagents, we can create your custom genetically modified mouse. We can also create your mice through modification of embryonic stem cells with subsequent injection into blastocysts.
C57BL/6 Mice and ES Cell Clones
TIGM also operates a gene trap library that contains over 350,000 embryonic stem cell lines in the C57BL/6 mouse background. This library contains mutated ES cell clones representing more than 10,000 genes. We provide the ESCs and/or whole body, constitutive knock-out mice derived from these ESCs.
Common stock and strains in use
We house colonies of commonly used laboratory stocks and strains such as ICR/CD1, 129, Balb-C, C57Bl6N, C57Bl6J, and FVB to use as backgrounds for genetic modification and to serve as experimental controls for your cohorts.
Flexible options for colony management
If your laboratory has the expertise to manage your colony, TIGM can provide access to clean, well-monitored animal and procedure rooms. For a more turnkey approach, the Institute can manage colonies end-to-end, including genotyping, individual identification, and delivering research-ready cohorts.
Facilities tailored to your needs
TIGM facilities include both Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) and research vivaria with access to shared or dedicated procedure space tailored to your needs. We also maintain ABSL2 animal holding capacity to support specialized studies.
Onsite cryopreservation and storage options
To preserve those milestones, TIGM offers cryopreservation services for sperm and embryos, ensuring your models are securely maintained and readily available for future use.
